It was a sad week for racing fans when the great Kauto Star passed away. He really was a talented horse with a huge fan base and gave punters some great wins at Cheltenham, Haydock and Sundown. This weekend we have two big flat races the Coral Eclipse at Sandown and the Old Newton Cup at Haydock.

Looking at the big race at Sandown we have Derby winner Golden Horn running at a very short price. The races also has a small field and when you take into account no horse over the age five has won the race since 1886 this narrows the field down further. Its worth noting Gosden’s colt Golden Horn will be doing something he has never done before at Sandown – taking on older horses.

Over the past decade only two horses have won the race on the back of winning their last race. Therefore, I fancy a shock and I will be on THE GREY GATSBY and I will also do a forecast with him beating Golden Horn. Over at Haydock in the Old Newton Cup four year olds have had a great record in this race with nine wins in the past fifteen years and only one horse under a weight of 8-8 has won the race in that period. I like the look of WATERSMEET and at 10/1 he looks great value.
