UK residential sales and values on the up


The latest figures from RICS – the leading sentiment indicator of conditions in the UK residential sales and lettings market – showed March’s house sales per surveyor climbed to the highest level since February 2008

The flip side of this is the statistics highlighted new instructions have declined for the third month running underpinning the upward move in prices.

In the same week, Rightmove’s House Price Index headlined with the fact property asking prices in London are up almost 20%, the highest rise since November 2007.

The ‘ripple effect’ of this has boosted prices in the south and east, leading to new national and regional highs. By contrast, some northern regions are still an average of 6% behind the October 2007 benchmark.
